Afternoon at the Bowls Club

Ristorante a Riomaggiore

This is one of my treasured memories of the quaint little Ristorante dau Cila, sipping Sciacchetrà, and savoring homemade pesto pasta Genovese, looking over the Porto di Riomaggiore.  A gem in Cinque Terra. I love that the fishing boat sitting quietly on the cobbled boat ramp beneath, and the faded shades of blue and white, told stories of countless journeys along the Ligurian Coast.

The whale watching boat quickly returns to port in Huskisson as a storm rolls in over Hyams Beach in Jervis Bay.  The turquoise waters contrast with the intense energy above, creating a striking juxtaposition of peace and impending turmoil.The eerie calm before the storm was short lived before the torrential downpour.

The Pineapple Steals the Show

Vista di Riomaggiore

This iconic vantage point captures the essence of Riomaggiore, a stunning coastal village in the Cinque Terre.  From the top of the headland, I had a sweeping, bird’s-eye view of the multi-coloured buildings that line the hillside, and a handful of fishing boats bobbing in the Ligurian waters.  The rugged cliffs on the opposite side add an element of natural beauty that complements the man-made vibrancy of the village.  It’s a beautiful depiction of the harmony between nature, architecture, and the everyday life of a coastal town.  Such a joy to paint!
